The Meadow Campsite is situated close to Burniston village just north of Scarborough on the A165.
Burniston village is a ten minute walk away, and has a village shop and a post office. There is a pub in the village, or enjoy excellent food and drink at The Barn Bistro adjacent to the site. From Burniston village you can access the stunning rocky coastline near Cromer Point, or from Cloughton village there is a foot path leading to Cloughton Wyke. There are regular buses running from Burniston village to Scarborough and up the coast to Whitby Bus Time Table and also to Ravenscar.
We are only 100 or so meters from the ‘Old Railway Line’ bridle path which joins the Cleveland Way… a perfect location for walkers or cyclists. Additionally Scarborough’s North Bay, The Sea Life Centre and Peasholm Park are only couple of minutes drive, or within walking or cycling distances for the more adventurous.
Scarborough, Britain’s first seaside resort, has been welcoming visitors for over 360 years and is still as popular as ever. Scarborough boasts some of the country’s cleanest and most beautiful beaches, the safe, sandy, award-winning North and South Bay beaches, which are separated by a rocky headland on which stands a reminder of the past, the historic and iconic Scarborough Castle.
Scarborough has much to offer other than beaches and sea side charm though; The Spa Complex, The North Bay Outdoor Theater, Peasholm Park, The Sea Life Center, The Rotunda Museum, The Stephen Joseph Theater and Scarborough Art Gallery to name a few!
Scarborough is also hosts many festivals throughout the year, including Seafest, the iconic Scarborough Jazz Festival, Bike Week, Scarborough Festival of Cycling, the UK Pro Surf Championships and the Scarborough Cricket Festival. The long running Burniston Agricultural Show is held every August bank holiday Monday directly opposite The Meadow Campsite, and makes a great day out with children’s entertainment, equestrian events, fur and feather and local produce tents.
Easy day trips are only a short drive away with York, , Malton, Filey, Bridlington, Whitby, Robin Hoods Bay, ‘Heart Beat Country’ and Helmsley all easily reached and attractions of note such as Castle Howard, Burton Agnes Hall, Sledmere House, Sewerby Hall & Gardens, Scampston Walled Gardens, Wolds Way Lavender and Yorkshire Lavender make a memorable visit.
Our fantastic location is in close proximity to Dalby: the ‘Great Yorkshire Forest’, the Yorkshire Wolds and The North York Moors National Park, a beautiful landscape of stunning moorland, ancient woodland and historic sites. We are an ideal base from which to explore one of Britain’s most diverse and exciting regions.
